The Knowledge Foundation, a research financier for Swedish universities, has granted Örebro University 48 million SEK to identify unknown environmental toxins posing great risks. Golder, together with nine other companies, participate in the research project, contributing with additional 40 million SEK through personnel and research equipment.

The research project has been named EnForce (Environmental Forensics), in this context meaning tracing and identifying the most dangerous environmental toxins. The main goal of the project is to use new methods to search for unknown environmental toxins and study its behavior in the environment, their toxicological effects on cells and how they can be neutralized.

This quest for chemical perpetrator is in collaboration with ten companies. An important goal is to develop better methods for investigation of contaminated sites on land and in water bodies. Another goal is to help companies developing technologies for detoxification and recovery methods to produce non-toxic materials. Companies involved, besides Golder Associates, is also Sweco, Niras, Liljemarks Consulting, Jordnära Environmental Consultant, Ragn-Sells and Swedavia.
