Assignment
As part of an expansion of its Shenandoah Brewery, MillerCoors hired Golder to help develop additional groundwater supplies from a very productive and high quality aquifer situated at the toe of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah National Park. The new well is online and is helping MillerCoors produce up to 7 million barrels per year at this modern brewery.

Our Role
Golder conducted sophisticated geophysical exploration to locate a new high-yielding 1,800-gpm well for MillerCoors. The well was located to intersect highly productive bedrock fracture zones identified by remote sensing analysis and electrical resistivity imaging conducted by Golder.  The new well produces very high quality water that meets all current drinking water standards.  Golder recommended using dual-rotary drilling techniques, which are optimal for drilling in productive karst aquifers, and which ultimately saved MillerCoors considerable time and money.  Golder also developed technical specifications for the well drilling and aquifer testing program, provided construction management assistance, and assisted with the permitting of the well as a drinking water source.
