We are encouraged to share learnings to develop experience and improve our decision making in the area of health, safety, security and environment (HSSE). In fact, every six minutes someone enters a learning into our database, and it is standard practice to begin our days and meetings discussing important safety topics.

With an open culture of sharing, we don’t have to learn everything the ‘hard way.’ We, and our clients alike, benefit from these shared experiences, and this provides certainty to our clients that we have developed an industry leading HSSE culture and approach/system that reflects our risk profile. Our approach has been developed and refined with a desire to continually improve.

Each year our partners and senior leaders all commit to leading HSSE by visiting our field projects, actively engaging in leadership moments on our projects and in our offices and sharing their learnings throughout our Golder community. We also recognise that all of us at Golder can be a leader in the area of HSSE, regardless of position or seniority. We empower our people to live our values and celebrate the leadership of our people through our annual CEO HSSE Awards and quarterly regional HSSE awards that are chosen from hundreds of commendations our colleagues receive from our peers through our sharing of learnings. These awards recognize exceptional HSSE planning and execution, effectively responding to unexpected situations, and caring for the future of Golder. The celebration of these behaviors is paramount as it embodies the trust we place in our people.
