Title: Study of Embankment Cracking for Small Dams

Abstract:
Small dam embankments in Colombia are often used for irrigation supply in dry seasons and flood control in rain seasons. These dams are generally constructed with compacted cohesive soil, which tends to experience cracking and seepage issues, affecting dam performance and embankment stability. Methods to reduce cracking and improve dam embankment behavior will be presented.
Presenter bio:
Ana Avendano, M.Eng., is geotechnical engineer with more than seven years’ experience in tailing management facilities and irrigation dams, focusing on different levels of dam design in South America.
