Hungarian Hydrological Society Annual Meeting
Join Golder at the Hungarian Hydrological Society National Annual Meeting between July 5 and 7, 2017 in Mosonmagyaróvár, Hungary.
Éva Ratky, Hydraulic Engineer and Hydrologist, from our Hungarian office in Budapest will attend the conference and share a presentation about Surface and Ground Water interaction.
Surface and groundwater interaction – assessment with analytical solution
The hydraulic interaction of surface and groundwater can be assessed with field experiments, analytical methods and numerical models. The strength of the interdependency is not only influenced by bank storage but also by the hydraulic diffusivity of the aquifer.
The hydraulic parameters of an aquifer can be defined through pumping tests. The interpretation of the test data with an analytical solution can become a complex problem if the surface water level fluctuation influences the test results.
At a project location in Hungary, near the river Danube we were facing problem of how to eliminate the effects of surface water level variations from the test data to be able to determine the bank storage and the hydraulic diffusivity.
