Africa: An Outstanding Mining Tradition
Golder’s current operational reach in Africa spans eight countries, with the largest staff presence in South Africa, Ghana, and Mozambique. Our consulting practice is largely focused on mining, addressing the unique regional needs of the continent.
Our 220 engineering and technical specialists on the ground in Africa are augmented by a worldwide team of 6,500 professionals, including 1,700 dedicated to all aspects of mining. We offer innovative water management, surface water and groundwater supply, and contamination and remediation solutions to our clients.
We recognize that sustainable mining solutions in Africa frequently necessitate effective strategies and approaches for mitigating the social and economic impact on communities, as well as mine closure and rehabilitation.
Growth Opportunities Exist
Beyond services to mining, we have an expanding capability in the infrastructure, oil and gas, power, and manufacturing sectors for both public and private sector clients. This is an exciting time of growth in the continent, where possibilities exist across many countries and sectors.
Golder is positioned to work in tandem with businesses and communities to deliver successful projects, whether in West Africa and North Africa infrastructure and mining, or Southern Africa mining, infrastructure, and oil and gas development, where clients draw upon our geotechnical and regulatory knowledge, engineering design, and our strong capability in the ESIA field.
Our commitment to Africa also includes the Golder Trust for Orphans, which has made a difference to more than 6,000 needy children in nine African countries. We provide both financial and operational support to charitable organizations dedicated to assisting children and families displaced by HIV/AIDS.
