As a global company, with offices on six continents, Golder has been working through this crisis from the first appearance of COVID-19 in mainland China. With the safety and wellbeing of our people, clients, and communities at the core of our planning, we have continued our operations with minimal interruption by adapting our teams and leveraging our technology and global resources.
Golder’s Lara Bucklew, Digital Solutions Practice Leader, and JR VanOrder, Digital Solutions Global Practice Leader, met with Jill Bernstein, Head of Global Expert Services at Enhesa to talk about business resiliency amid COVID-19. In this information-packed series of videos, these leaders discuss how to navigate through this crisis together and maintain a healthy workplace after re-occupancy.
In our three-part video series, you will learn:
Part One: How to prepare for returning to work with COVID-19 in your workplace (12 minutes)
- Complete a new risk or hazard assessment with COVID-19 in mind
- Deliver concise, strong, and empathetic communication, which is key to making each individual feel comfortable returning to the workplace
- Use a phased approach to re-opening – no one-size-fits-all re-opening plan
- Call on all individuals or departments to play their part – come together to manage the health and safety response to the pandemic as a team for success
- Identify flexibility in polices and work to accommodate everyone’s needs
- Develop building operations maintenance plans to reduce risks in the workplace
Part Two: Maintaining a healthy workplace in a post COVID-19 world (11 minutes)
- Increase personal and workplace hygiene measures – make disinfectants available, wash hands often, provide PPE as necessary
- Establish new office hygiene that won’t create new workplace hazards
- Keep up on other EHS issues while focus is on COVID-19
- Avoid complacency – continue to be proactive, communicate, use social distancing, personal hygiene, PPE
- Share data and share best practices
Part Three: Leveraging technology for managing COVID-19 data (10 minutes)
- Leverage what we know and build on that information
- Use reliable resources to gather information, requirements, regulations, and guidelines – no need to recreate the wheel
- Collaborate and rethink the way we operate – use all levels of a company to continue business the way we want to
- Use existing processes and procedures and ask what we need to do to adapt to COVID-19 and update accordingly
At Golder, we recognize that our services are vitally important to our clients and communities, and we are fiercely committed to doing our part as we navigate through this crisis together. This crisis is creating new and unprecedented challenges for all of us. If history has shown us anything, it’s that when surrounded by a storm, the only way out is through. And the best way through is together.
