Today Golder is celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day with colleagues across Canada.
“It’s of the utmost importance to us that all Indigenous Peoples feel acknowledged and respected while doing business with Golder and our clients. We are involved in a number of exciting initiatives to achieve this,” said Dave Kerr, Principal, Senior Environmental Consultant (Calgary).
Recently, we’ve undertaken several community initiatives in Canada such as:
- Joining the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Businesses, a national organization with a mandate to “build bridges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, business, and communities.”
- Supporting “Wake the Giant” in Thunder Bay, a local cultural awareness project that aims to create positive connections between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities. By displaying their decal, we identify our office as a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous Youth. Later this year we’ll participate in a program geared towards easing youths into the community.
Golder’s Thunder Bay office is designated a safe space for Indigenous Youth.
- Participating in the Habitat for Humanity Indigenous Build Day as part of National Indigenous History Month with an event goal to fundraise monetary donations for building expenses to build four townhomes at CentreTowne, Oshawa.
