Golder was awarded the Peter Perry & Business Achievement Award (50+ Employees) by the Whitby, Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Since 1955, Whitby has honoured outstanding accomplishments in the community by publicly recognizing local businesses that have demonstrated a passion for excellence, a commitment to their community and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. Local Golder leaders, Steve Keenan, Sarah Poot, and Chris Kellestine accepted the award on behalf of the organization and were interviewed for the virtual award ceremony video.
“We are honored to receive this award from the Whitby Chamber of Commerce. We’ve chosen to engage in the Whitby community beyond just what we do from a professional point of view. Our staff and our business participate in a whole host of extracurricular activities [in support of the community],” explains Chris Kellestine, Principal, Vice President Engineering – Ontario. “Our team loves living and working in the town of Whitby, and we look forward to continuing our good work in the community.”
In addition to providing engineering and consulting services, Golder supports local community service initiatives where our employees live and work. In Whitby, the team have been involved with local community organizations, donating time, skills and money to causes including Whitby’s Food Bank, the Humane Society, Sick Kids Foundation and participating in local STEM and National Engineering Month events.
The Peter Perry Business Achievement Awards are evaluated on the following criteria: business management, outstanding customer service, entrepreneurship and innovation, continuous improvement, community engagement, corporate social responsibility and achievements. Peter Perry was a founder of the Town of Whitby; an astute businessman and truly dedicated to his community. He served as an elected representative to the Parliament of Upper Canada, as Whitby’s Township representative to the Home District Council, and was instrumental in the formation of Ontario County with Whitby as the County Town.
