Technical Excellence Conference Fosters Innovation, Collaboration

Technical Excellence Conference Fosters Innovation and Collaboration

Golder will be hosting its annual Technical Excellence Conference, showcasing our employees’ greatest innovations and collective expertise, during virtual technical sessions May 10-14, 2021. This year’s Virtual Technical Excellence Conference (VTEC) is an annual multi-day, internal-only event, at which Golder professionals from around the world present their work to their colleagues.

Our people share a passion for innovation, which is at the core of our culture and is evident in the Technical Communities that encompass the many disciplines within our organization. As a distinct part of our vibrant work environment, these communities are coordinated by industry leaders in their fields and are natural incubators of innovation, mentoring, career development, and collaboration. While our Technical Communities provide a space for colleagues within similar disciplines to collaborate, there is also a need to facilitate cross-specialty collaboration, which is where VTEC shines.

One of the greatest outcomes of previous events has been the discovery of innovative approaches previously unknown to many of the attendees. The most common phrase heard at a Technical Excellence Conference is: “I had no idea we did that!” These discoveries have led to collaborative discussions that expand innovative applications beyond their original scope and broaden our collective understanding to achieve a better result for our clients.

This year’s virtual event is open to all Golder staff and a select number of our WSP colleagues, with five days of content that will generate discovery of the depth and breadth of expertise in our organization. Technical Sessions are organized by Practice Area (Ground Engineering, Environment, Water, Mining, and Environmental Planning) and will be repeated twice on the same day to accommodate as many people as possible. The depth of this content also offers our employees the opportunity to earn up to three Professional Development Hour (PDH) credits, per day, by attending the technical sessions and completing a test on the content.
