Since 2008, Golder has been engaged with Geranium on its award-winning, iconic development of the Friday Harbour Resort, on beautiful Lake Simcoe in Innisfil, Ontario, Canada. The Friday Harbour Resort includes luxury condominiums, retail, as well as a marina with 1,200 boat slips connected to Lake Simcoe.

As a trusted advisor, Geranium has relied on a multi-facetted team of Golder personnel, ranging from ground engineering, hydrogeological services and environmental expertise during permitting, to full time construction materials monitoring and testing, and full time on site Health and Safety advisors assisting the project on an ongoing basis, while realizing the first occupants in June of 2017.

Golder has completed several geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeological investigations at the site, as well as off-site for the external infrastructure, to support the development of the resort and the construction of the marina basin. Golder is conducting an extensive water monitoring program in areas where significant dewatering effort was required for the installation of underground services. Golder is also providing construction monitoring and laboratory testing for the ongoing construction operations at the site.

Golder’s technical knowledge has been tested with many complex aspects of the project, from development approvals to construction, including the movement of over 2M m3 of earth and construction of external trunk services in difficult ground conditions, requiring complex dewatering near over 300 existing residential dwellings. Geranium continues to rely on this expertise today.
