Golder’s role included permitting, design, and construction support for the existing landfill gas management system, which includes approximately 90 active extraction wells and flare systems used to treat the gas when the plant is not operational. This facility directs the gas to the processing facility where it is treated to remove the carbon dioxide and other trace volatile gasses. This is only the 13th such plant in the entire United States and the first in the state of Georgia. The plant currently processes over 2,000 standard cubic feet per minute of landfill gas and will supply the local communities around Winder, Georgia with an ongoing source of high quality natural gas.
