Golder was asked to determine the extent of impact of a diesel spill into a protected wetland, habitat to a number of threatened amphibians, and coordinate the remediation.
Our Role
Golder undertook the physical site assessment in coordination with the relevant authorities and the Power Transmission Company owning the 400 kilovolt cables overhanging the site. The site assessment included evaluation of chemical and physical risk to animals and plants, evaluation of the excavation in deep peat on the nearby foundation of a 400 kilovolt transmission mast; and ecological evaluation of the project after completion. The project was terminated as planned prior to the amphibians breeding season.
